Distributor Recurve at Ed Fall's Vintage Werks

I've long suspected my distributor (Bosch 0231 184 004) lacked the slight additional advance desired by an RS spec motor. I thought I had established this by measuring the advance on the car with one of those fancy dial-back timing lights. So the whole unit went off to Ed Fall in Utah a week ago for a makeover.

Well, turns out I was wrong; I had failed to factor in the built-in static advance. The advance curve could hardly have been closer to the spec than it was. (See the plots below; sorry they are sideways!) Ed's real talents weren't required but he did pull my distributor apart, lube it, and make it like new again. Now it is both beautiful and, more important, known to be performing as it should be. I can't say enough good things about Ed's service and the final result. All this at a very reasonable price, well below that quoted by two other establishments.

    Ditto

I also recently had a distributor rebuilt by Ed, and agree that he's a first rate guy.

He got mine last Tuesday, rebuilt it, and had it back to me last Friday. Talk about service! And, his price was very competitive too!
    Cheers!
