Twin rear engine grills on MY 64 ?

While discussing another thread on louvres ( http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...583#post213583 )
it looks like a pic I recently posted got its attention by members - maybe its more than just a funny photo.
Below picture appeared in german AMS magazine, april 1966, text reads:

"In march in front of Kurhaus Wiesbaden, I made two photos of new Porsche cars where WI-AS-912 does
has a modified rear end. Is it a new conception or is this very clean processed car a D.I.Y ?
The factory or its owner will shurely explain. H.B. Wiesbaden"

    - it's a very complete modification. Not just the rear lid but the rear fenders too and it looks very well done
    - known that the first 901 was completed in Oct? '64 than this car was only about 15 months old before the mod was done (picture was published in April and he needed some time for his modification). Not too many crafted amateurs are meshing w/ a relatively new car, esp. in '65.
    - his license plate is just too nice, ending at 912
Also this car looks to have a dual exhaust pipe.
    Just my thoughts

Appears to be a 912, perhaps trying to combat overheating issues with a prototype configuration.
