    Concours Softie

The shop that I use, German Master Tech here in Bend, has just completed a top of the world concours restoration of a '67 911S Soft Window Targa. It's entered in the Forest Grove Concours here in Oregon this Sunday and Tim Morris, the owner of GMT, has a couple questions regarding correctness that I don't know the answer to:

    (1) What is the proper interior rear view mirror? I'm certain that on a Coupe that it is all chrome. But there is some evidence that on a SWT it has a black back.

    (2) The car has a set of 4.5" Fuchs freshly done by Harvey (they're fantastic). Should they be mounted with silver or black lug nuts?

Thanks for your help. BTW, I'm going to have my '67 Sports Purposes Coupe there also - display only. Stop by and say hi. And critique my car - I need input as I prepare for the Carmel Concours.

    Cheers,
    JohnA

In checking pics of several original cars..

    John,

The lug nuts should be hard-to-find silver and the mirror chrome, to match the lug nuts

I believe that the mirror was all chrome three-bolt mount in 67 - do not have my book handy right now, but I think the all chrome break-away was in 68.

    John

I have not looked into the differences (if any) between 67S coupes and targas (yet another thing to check out about our cars)but according to what I have trawled through over the years I am going to say that I am happy that the 67S interior mirror was a chrome stem with a black plastic back and surround to the mirror itself and the lug nuts are definitely not chrome, silver yes, but not chromed.

    Happy to be corrected/updated/enlightened.

    Regards
    Mike

We went with the black backed mirror. The car won Best in Class at the Forest Grove Concours yesterday. Thanks to everyone for the input.

Looks a lovely car but are those wipers black! or is it just the shadows. They should be parked to the right as well.
