I just sold a tangerine 67 softie S last spring, unfortunately the car had small changes from a 1981 resto so you could not verify correct details. The new owner plans to have me do a full restoration to the level of that yellow car in another year or so. Chrome rear view in that car.


In other cars, I have a 68 912 softie that is 100% correct that was bought from the 2nd owner who did not modify or change anything. Concours restoration done to that car by myself last March. I am contemplating driving the car to Monterey, is it wrong to drive around Monterey in a concours car and putting 2 thousand miles on it in a week? Notice the black mirror, but that is a 68 break away.

Short wheel base targas have no rear defrost for a soft window - the hard window cars had electric defrost.

John, I don't think your fuel pump looks very correct, it should be a Bendix - you can make the Facet look like a Bendix.

Great looking yellow car (and bahama one too!). I have a 67S soft window that has it's completely original interior still in it, and even has the original targa top on it as well. The interior mirror has a black backing on it.

Kind of curious as to what the ends look like on the front bumper rubber deco. Any pics available of that detail?

I agree on the fuel pump, should be a bendix, and there is a perfect repro of the bendix label available as I recall.

The trim on the car is the original S trim that was refinished. There's a guy here in Bend that does outstanding work. I'll see if Tim has more detailed pictures.

There is a perfect repro of the sticker, you can use cadmium color spray paint to make the fuel pump look like the right plating. One place to get the sticker is from William Pringle - Classic & Speed Parts csp-usa.com.

Here is a 68 that was done last year, spray painted fuel pump body, repro sticker, messy wires were not yet cleaned up.

This is a detail that gets "missed" very often. The rubber is correct for 67/68 only.

The issue of the Bendix fuel pump raises a number is issues concerning mechanical upgrades. I'm going to open a new thread to discuss it rather than hijack this one. I would really appreciate input from this the most knowledgeable of all groups.
