I bet I can guess....
What if the hokey pokey IS what its all about?
Dave,
Very funny! I honestly don't know. But, I'd like to play the game. I see twin plugs, I see big valves and big valves. And, I'm not sure if the bigger one is intake or exhaust; I'm going to guess intake since part of the stack is cast into the head. Now for the engine? Hum, looks late '60s to early 70's to me..I could look it up...somewhere...maybe....hum.....917?

917.
Did you buy the one on ebay?
Here are more photos of 917 heads.I did not know they were Magnesium- I thought Aluminum.

Yep...917 indeed.
Here is the funny thing though. All other 917 heads that I can find info on are aluminum and use a 908 part #. This one is clearly magnesium and it has a 912 part # (912 being the internal # for the 917)
Trying to find more info, but so far nobody I have talked with has ever seen or heard of a mag 917 head. The service life of a magnesium head would have to be very short. Could this be a one-off. Any thoughts are welcome.
And yes, this came from Ebay
