I think the factory doors (sans window mechanisms) are around 37-38 lb. You can cut much weight out of the complete assembly by going with Lexan windows with a pull strap. FG doors are also availalbe, and can be fit pretty well if you really want to cut weight. It is possible to get a 1750 911 if you really want to go the FG/Lexan and stripped route...it was done in '67....I think.

Every feature on these long hood cars can be lightened, but some of these techniques will be more modern than in the day...so like everything else in life, it ends up being a compromise. Throw safety out the window (along with heavy windows and doors) and you can have a sub 1800 lb 911. Then stick a 200-250 hp engine in it, and it goes like a scalded dog. Many have BTDT before.
