    Who rebuilds distributors?

Okay, so car in question is a 1970 with a 2.5L fed by Webbers and ignited by way of a dual plug setup utilizing a 6AL MSD box...

The car has been a race car most of its life, but previous owner started to put it back on the street, sort of lost interest, and it sat for quite a few years. I picked it up a couple of weeks ago and it runs pretty good except for two issues:

    1. It has a slight hesitation, cough if you go full throttle from 3000 RPM.

    2. The idle is weird... Start it cold and let it warm up, it idles at 900 RPM. Get in and drive it and once it warms up, it wants to idle at 1600 RPM. However, on occasion it goes back to 900RPM and sometimes gets crazy low... like 400 RPM.

My first thought was to check timing. It's right on. Then, I took the distributor cap off and found this:

I have no idea what's going on here... Brown stuff is hard and feels almost like epoxy? Also, lots of weird green powder everywhere...

Either way, think I want to send this thing off for a rebuild. Is there a go to guy for these distributors?

Send your miserable looking distributor to Jerry Woods Enterprises in Campbell, CA for a full rebuild.

Found out that it was built by Jarvis Tech. So, it’s going back there.

Atomic- that idle hunting made me think of loose throttle shafts on the carbs. Have you checked them? (And yes, distributor needs TLC LOL)

I'm used to working on Stromberg 97s on flathead Fords. The Weber IDAs are intimidating as all hell... But, I'm starting to build the confidence to at least look at them every now and then.

I used Jerry Woods and could not have been more pleased with his service or communication.
