    Paint code decals

How many members can contribute good photos of this decal? I'd like to be able to establish the period of use if possible. The 7310 label was from an 03/70 911. VIN's and compliance decal date codes would help also. Sensitive info and photos can be emailed to me.

I've been searching for more example and have found a few. Did this start with the beginning of the 1970 model year?

Interesting...I though the paint code plate was always riveted on from the factory?

Cam, that was my thoughts also until I saw the 7310 plate. Then I really started to dig into the 1970 MY badges, and it seems most are the adhesive plate variety. I've been collecting photos and data on the paint code plates for the last year or so, but the 1970 plates are not commonly seen. Now I have to determine when they started to use them, and when they discontinued them. There is also the question of Karmann cars.

I understand the plates are similar to the riveted plates but adhesively fastened. Note that the 1970 and 1971 codes are much different in format than the preceding and succeeding formats. Yet the 70/71 format continued for many years in the records kept by the factory, and are most commonly seen on the COA that PCNA produces.

I request that anyone with access to a 1970 or 1971 911 please submit a photo or the badge, and the VIN to match. The VIN is important to date the badge, and to define the body manufacturer. I'm working on all paint codes & badges from 1964 through 1983 production, so all badges are very useful.

Chuck, thanks for posting the photos.
