It looks like removing the riveted ones is fraught with danger. Those look pretty knackered.
Thanks very much for posting these. I require lots more, so keep beating the bushes please. What about Karmann bodied 70 or 71's?

Dave, FWW I have ordered a new one with stamping and rivets from Internationalmercantile. They claim that it will be an exact replica, and also that they have several version depending on year.

Paint tag on 1968 "Out of Africa" T/R....unfortunately the previous owner had a bit of a scratch at it, any advice on the best way to remove the later paint without any more damage to the tag?

I think a hot air gun may help there. It would be interesting to know the prefix and suffix on the code; looks like an L suffix. 68 and 97 are common prefixes. It is not immediately obvious from most badges, but Tim's badge clearly shows the black painted areas are recessed.
John, can you add shots from your 71T and 78 as well please.
Bill, can you get a really good photo of the compliance decal on your 69 please. Is it the same 37mm square as the paint badge? Someone needs to duplicate these as well.

    Dave,
this one is from nov 1972 built 2.4S.
The paint seems to be original so I think it has never been touched:

If it helps, this one is on my 1975 930. Sorry for the quality of the photo

    Compliance Decal

Dave here's a photo. I measure 36mm in width (horizontal in the pic) and 36.5mm in heigth (vertical in pic). I even managed to scratch my paint a bit measuring it.

As far as I can tell, both plates, paint etc. are factory original.

    Regards,

    Bill

Thanks very much. Does the decal appear to be paper, foil, or metal? Does it appear to be black on silver or silver on black?

Here is a Karmann paint badge for 9110123749, so perhaps Karmann used the riveted type.

Dave, I'd refer to it as a "plate" rather than a decal. I'm not looking at it now, but it's not as thick as the paint code data plate, but it's certainly not foil. I can look tonight. It looks like black on aluminum.

Here are two interesting items, a 1968 MY with the Compliance decal, and the 1970 Karmann body riveted style badge.
