WOW, both of those are rare items.
    Is the 6801 followed by "-L" ?

Yes, its followed by "L". I actually think the tag is scratched to hide the original color code. The other one is VW color Lavender blue, not sure yet if it is original.

Tags from some cars I've seen for sale over the years
The first is from a '68 911 I had for awhile.
The second was an early 911 ('65?)
    Third is a '66 911 I think.
    Fourth is a '69 911
    Last is a '72

Thanks John, they sure run the range. The 68-6808 is particularly interesting since they usually had a letter suffix on the end to signify the paint manufacturer. I'm not sure that I have seen another that has the suffix missing. The third one 461261 is a Karmann built 1967 912.

Cees, it appears to have a very subtle difference in the weight of the font.

Here is one from my '68 911 Sporto SWT. I am also interested in that my '68's compliance plate was rivetted. The other '68 tag I posted had a compliance plate that was adhesive. The odd man out in this is from a '70 914 that was at the salvage yard.
