I really really like that 912R - it looked fantastic and a lot of hard work went into it from what I can tell. All the best on the rebuild.
It is sad to see the car on the drive way all banged up
My wife and I were one or two cars behind them. We were delayed a bit in leaving our lunch stop due to getting the 6-point belts straightened out and fastened. When I came upon it I was almost sick to my stomach. I felt a bit better when I noticed one of the two people in the car (the driver - who was NOT the owner) was already out of the car and unhurt. Then the owner crawled out - I felt a LOT better. There were both without a scratch - thanks, according to the owner, to 4 point belts (they had not fastened - at least the owner hadn't - the crotch belt). BTW - the car did NOT roll. It went into the embankment tail first and flipped over tail end down.
My wife remarked later that she noticed I was driving slower the rest of the day.
The owner hasn't had the best of luck with yelow cars. He had a nice 356 that was also yellow. I think it was around New Years 08 he hit a patch of ice on Angels Crest Highway. The car high centered on the edge of the cliff. No problem and they got out of the car. That is until a familiy in a mini-van came along and hit the same ice. The mini-van flipped on its side and T-boned the 356. That popped the mini-van back up and managed to stop it from going all the way over the cliff. The 356 was totaled.
My Targa needs new belts - I think I will install a harness bar with 6 points in it too. They may restrict your movement a bit (obviously in some cases that is a good thing!) but this was the first long trip (650 miles) in my coupe since the rebuild and I didn't feel they were at all uncomfortable. No complaints from the wife either - and that is the ACID TEST!
