Thread: Tan/Beige (and red) interior photos?

    Tan/Beige (and red) interior photos?

I am looking for photographs of Targa's - preferably 69 - with tan interiors. Also red (though I have the brochure photo of the blue Targa with red).

My car is coming back from the painter and I am considering changing the interior color, since the exterior (Champagne Yellow) is not original. I am thinking tan or beige might be the best and red a possibility. I don't have interior options available so I am not sure what was actually available in 69 - not that it matters ALL that much.

    Thanks in advance,
    Don

    Hi Don,

In case a few pics help. Sorry it is not a 69, this is a 73 car we restored. Painted in Bahia Red, the seats are GTS seats in tan leather (which were supplied with extra material) our trimmer then trimmed the rest of the car.

OK - thanks - that helps as it lets me see how it would look if I leave the nearly new charcoal carpet in place. I think that is how the 69 was from the factory with the map pockets, arm rest and the door top in black. I think the vinyl on the dash was black - but it looks good in tan. Might also be a chance to do that in wood and a wood steering wheel (I know, I know - not original).

Please post a photo of the color. I would look more into darker colors. Tan is too light for a light color. A dark reddish brown would look great. Dark blue or green might look interesting. I wouldn't be afraid to go outside of the original Porsche color spectrum. Go to a good upholstery shop and look at samples. Also go look at new cars, they've got some great interior colors now and any upholstery shop should be able to order that. Go look at the king ranch Ford truck, I think that color would look superb with a light yellow.

I don't pick my Targa up for another week - meanwhile - here is a painted dash 65 912

It is sort of a pale Talbot Yellow. I don't think this photo does it justice - the color balance seems a little off. I emailed another friend who has the car that was the inspiration for my color change from white - I will post a photo of her car when I get it.

    Found one

    Here's another

I think you are right about the darker colors - but I think a brown or red - particularly a dark red would be good. I am just surprised that in 69 the factory left so much of the parts black. A cost cutting measure to be sure. Since I have a perfect dash cap and map pockets, I sure wouldn't be changing them anyway, so it has to go with the black.

You can mix any of those colors with black. Actually, I think it looks better to include the black trim bits, otherwise it's just too much.
