    Lost and Found Thread

How about a thread for all of the things you have come across that belong to other cars?

    I will start with...

    Free to it's current keeper.

great idea, but sometimes they say no...

I once found a Carrera RS motor and it took me over a year to track down the owner of the car (he was the son of the original owner). I offered to sell the motor back to him. He said no thanks. A few months later the motor went to an RS owner in Germany who wanted it because it was close to the number he should have had in his car. That makes at least two RSs that will never be "matching numbers."

It's nobody's business what cars I own. I will tell you one thing though, they're air cooled and I beat 'em like they owe me money.

This is a good idea. There is an "orphan" type database that one of the old BMW motorcycle clubs maintains. They try to get engines back with frames and vice versa.
I had an engine that belonged to a '67S. By searching I was able to track down the owner who was "sure" he had the right engine in the car. Only when I showed him the data from PCNA did he come to realize what he had was "not correct". In fact it was an earlier case, etc.

    Voila! Engine and car reunited.

    Best,

    Tom

    Hi Mark,

I'm sure the owner of your dad's old 911 would enjoy having this document. The serial # for the car is missing a #, the VIN should ten digits long. Thanks again for posting.
