First time for Everything, buyer be ware

I think this is the first time I can say I got taken when buying a part from someone, regardless of where they live.
I now have sent him almost $300 US dollars, and still no knob. I sent him the amount he asked for, then he said there was some extra charge for customs, so I sent another $50. I have sent him many emails, asking where the knob is, no response. So, you can see his name and address below in England, I would wait until he figures out pay pal, and I will never use Western Union again.
I hate to throw someone under the bus, but with no response from him, after sending almost $300, maybe he will see this and email me why he did not send the knob.

Do you have access to Western Union near you, as I could wire the money to them. Would that work? Thanks

Do you have a sport shift knob, NOS, or as new? If so, let me know what you want, and how much shipping would be to 92024 in USA. Do you take pay pal, thanks.

Sorry to say it reads like a scam to me mate. Have a look at this and this. I doubt they are in England or even English going by the mails he sent.

There are enough of us over here to help out with checking references if anything is ever offered to you from the UK, or maybe even paying in local currency and picking up on your behalf. Always worth a post, just to be sure.

Apparently the scammer's Paypal account is based in the Dominican Republic? Click here.

The real key is the Western Union requirement. I got scammed on a tool kit several years ago. Wired the dough to a Western Union in England. The perp collects the dough and disappears. I called the London police who investigated this (or so they said). They clalled me back some time later to tell me that there had been no such person at the address he claimed. Live and learn.

Unless you edited something out, the dead giveaway is the "street address." They have city and/or town names in the UK, just like we do in the good ol' USA. Postal Codes, too.

You'd instantly recognize "12 Melbourne Rd, California" as a bogus address. I'm sorry, but the money is gone.

I have probably bought over $50K in parts and accessories on this site over the last 6 years, with never a problem. If all I have lost is this $300, then I feel very lucky. Karma is out there, and he will get his, thanks to all of you for showing me what a rip off artist he is.

My expirience/opinion is that if they even mention Western Union (at least over here), its scammer...

I agree with the red flag about Western Union. I purchased some alloy wheels for my 2 door Mercedes Benz G wagon from a fellow G forum member in Jamaica. He was an active member and I had some interaction with him on Technical issues etc. on line. He posted a classified and I purchased them. They did arrive but they were complete junk bored out bolt pattern and cracks. Worth nothing and I had NO way to track him other than go to kingston and find him. Western union would not do a thing to help.

Western Union..,that was his insisted preference. He had a history of this sort of thing with others.

Good luck and I hope you can recover something.

    Cheers
    Peter
