Thread: Recaro sport set screws.

    Recaro sport set screws.

I am trying to locate the screws that are used to mount the leather bolsters to to outer side black frames. I think they may be 8 x 125 and about one inch long. There are four per seat, two upper and two lower. Please correct this if this info is incorrect.

    Hi John,
I was in the same postion a few months ago. The bolts have a tendency to bend a little once installed. I was able to get replacement ones from Auto's International.

    Hi Mark:

I know Tony pretty well. I will call him to get these. They are tough to locate and yes, they bend. I had some time getting a bent one out. Not the best design! It seems that no matter how tight you make them, they loosen, bend, and the back seat area has too much movement.

    Thanks for the help.

IS there a part number to the bolts? I have a box of nuts and bolts that said early sport seat hardware and a couple bags / boxes of way old genuine porsche / recaro bolts and hardware.

If there is a part number to it or post a picture I might have just the thing. Actually email me a picture of the bolt you need and I will check out the stash.

    True Value

Go over to your True Value store and they have lots of metric screws. For about $ 1.00 each you can buy these.

I have not found a part number. They are 8x 125 mm, by about one inch long. It is a phillips flat head.

Curtis, I am lovin those 7R rims you sold me, but those hex screws in a Recaro sport seat........

    Best,

The screws are 8mm 1.25 pitch and 20 mm long. These screws on eBay are quite good. You might want to contact the seller and see if he has any more.

Here is a photo of a couple of original ones.

Maryland Metric has found more stuff like this for me over the years than I can recall. You really need to see the on-line catalog and if that doesn't work, try to talk your way through with a salesman. I think you can probably do an e-mail too. $10 minimum order.

I just bought a pile of hex socket head screws for Recaro seat mounts as Stoddard and others did not have the "longer ones" anymore.
These would be the ones that mount the bases to the floor. The shorter ones just don't go far enough to suite me. That and the fact I'm considering a belt upgrade using the BK 9005 inboard (and now I learn outboard too) brackets.

My (new) seat belts will become lap belts (safer). This is a SWB car with the funky factory mounts from the period.

The thought came to me after a conversation with Soterik a few weeks ago.
That and a passage from the Nascar history book "Last Lap" regarding a tire testing accident waaaay back in the day. The seat belt rode too high on a driver and without getting too graphic, he was turned inside-out.

Do not wear them too high or ride in a car with a full bladder.

    Recaro screw

    John,

I don't know if you want to pay €5,- ($7.25) per screw ofered by Sitzklinik in Germany. I bought a box of 250 Zinc plated steel screws size M8 x 20 as used in the Recaro sports seats. You can get them chromed or just a bit of polish to get the shine you need. I am happy to send you some.

    Regards, Cees
