    Fantastic Singer 911

Guys, check out the 911 that Singer Vehicle Design Company has created. You can easily find it by doing a "Singer 911" search in e.g. yahoo. I think it's an absolutely fantastic combination of all I like about our cars and I definitely want one! I just wonder the what the price and delivery time is... What do you think, like it?

    Cheers,
    Mike

Mike, no need to search Yahoo. Just search Early 911S Registry.

Hey, no need to even go online! Turn to page 25 of the current Esses magazine issue and read all about it! Pretty pictures, too.

    Thanks!

Thanks for the information Karl and Jonesy, looks like I missed the thread about this car.

I love the looks of our classic 911's but find the Singer 911 is fantastic and very tempting (ok, I don't know the price yet).

The price will most likely take care of that temptation for you ;-)
    think 3x 911S in top shape + a 356 to boot...

It is very handsome up close: not 'just another flared 911'. Lots of time and energy have gone into it, and there is lots more yet to come from people who know their onions. All this consideration applied to the development will hopefully release the maximum potential in a very cohesive package. This is nothing like any other hot rod 911 I have ever tried.

It's a fairly pointless exercise comparing it pound for pound to older 911s. This thing should lap a track faster than a GT3 RS, so for those who like early cars but also like to cover ground fast, and who have the financial wherewithal to place these considerations higher than the price, it could be just the ticket.

Having driven/experienced most of the component parts of this car on separate vehicles, I am quite looking forward to trying the completed version next time we are over. Though I do think ABS would be nice.

I'd put my money on the Porsche race engineers and the GT3RS. The Singer front and rear end aero look completely inadequate. To me, the front end looks like it will provide more lift than downforce. And the rear? With that monster HP under that tiny ducktail?! Maybe Singer discovered an aero package that Porsche and thousands of 911 racers missed over 1,000,000+ race laps in 35 years. More likely, that car, under heavy acceleration out of a turn, will transform itself into a nearly $300K spinning top. But then the guy who buys that car will never track it anyway.

Seriously? For $295,000 you don't get ABS? You're joking.

    Some facts might be nice.

I've been on track at Silverstone GP in an early ('74) 911 running a 410 bhp version of that motor in a decent chassis (similar gear to the Singer) and we blew the doors off several GT3 RSs that run there all the time, no competition. 996 Turbo and a new KTM track thing were also very little trouble - only brand new race Ferraris were faster. Remember this is a very light car with a whole heap of power and a shedload of grip on R compound Michelins. They are really easy to drift with that sort of power and very difficult to spin it, even if you are a relative newbie, as the grip is prodigious.

The potential of the Singer far exceeds anything most 911 guys have ever experienced in an early car.

I know of two people who are well in the frame to put their hands up for a Singer - both like to track their existing modern and classic Porsches. They would definitely take one of these on track: helmet on, crank up the air con and go for it.
