Very happy to see SoFlo air cooled Porsche owners getting together to DRIVE their cars! Applause to those who have initiated and organized!

Curious... what is the significance of '79 with reference to Porsches?
The third of seven production years of the SC ??? Six years after production of the last long hood ??? Hmmmm... 79 the "last turbo" ???
The "not newer than 79" limit has been imposed by......? because...?

    '79 and older

No real reason and not meant to offend, but think the end of the '70's is a good cut off. Why nothing newer? Simple, we just want to get the older cars out. I love a new GT3, think 964's are great, Carrera's are cool, too. But just don't see enough of the older cars out.

What's the route? I may be able to coax a few central Floridians to drive down. We're a little spoiled up here with the Mt. Dora mountains.
Daytona has the Florida 200 on the 29th but that may be too far a drive for some?

'89 and older..? '79 cut off just doesn't make sense

Great idea to get So Flo 911 drivers together.
IMO, the grouping could benefit from a more logical cut off year.
With the stated intent being to "see the older cars" ... have you considered that a 1980 911 SC is visually indistinguishable from the 'acceptable' 77-79 SC's; that the OE torsion bar/impact bumper Carreras are also not visually different from the SC's (excepting the possibility of a Carrera tail, 16" Fuchs, H5's). If impact bumper 911's are partially included and given that those after 79 are not visually different from those before '79 ... why not just include them all?
This will place the cut off at '89, the last of the impact bumper/torsion bar 911's. Short hoods, long hoods, bathtubs (a 904 tribute) all together. Some of the long hoods are hybridized with SC or Carrera performance mods anyway. Participation of any significant number will still be a challenge in So Flo even with the 'all' IB's included. This will allow better participation of older 911's without visually changing the assembled grouping. The youngest of this group will still be 20 years old.

We'll set up a north and south meeting point and then all of us can meet up in a central spot. Details to follow. Please bring out those old Porsche's, especially the 356's and early 911's. Nothing newer then a '79, please and they must be air/oil cooled!

    Details to follow...
Any update on the 1/24 plans?
