    1964 Porsche 911 COUPE 1964 #300215

I posted in the thread about the 901 #300018 by asking a question to the readers about my just purchased 1964 911 Coupe #300215 and a few members suggested to start a new thread on this unique car, so here we are.

Last weekend I found a small ad regarding a 1964 911 Coupe for sale and I am very excited to have been able to purchase the car the next day!! A unique find in my opinion.
I am and have been in the classic car and restoration business since many years (close to 30) and now own and operate a Porsche specialised company in Costa Mesa CA.
When I discussed this car with my partner in Europe it was clear from the beginning that we both want this car to remain in our possesion and that I will restore the car in detail and bring it back to its condition as how it was when built in November 1964.

I really like blue and already own two blue cars (pastel blue 69 T and sky blue 64 356) and am very excited that this car is also blue, Bali Blue is a great color and after talking to Porsche today requesting a COA it was confirmed color code 6412 with black leather interior, great combo!

The current condition is very fair with minor rust and interior still in great condition. It has the original transmission however the engine is long gone. It comes with a 65 engine in parts.
It currently has a 67/68 engine deck lid but fortunately I have a 65 still saved from a swapmeet a long time ago.

I will update this thread as much as I can also with pictures and I would appreciate your feedback and the opportunity to pick other peoples brain regarding the original details of the car.

    Regards, Henk.

About that switch on the dash

Henk, glad you got this car.

It may not be a precedence - but here is another car with the same switch in the same location. It is car 300 149.

Does it look like a 356 part?

    It has been suggested:
    Rear fog light
    Horn flash (like in Italy)
Auxiliary lights (thru the grill or hood)

    We will find out someday.

    Good find

    Henk,

Looks like a nice, early one. As I think John Straub indicated, very unlikely switch is original; a minor detail in any case.

Looks like this car is going to have to come completely apart but I guess you know that. Early alu cases come up on eBay, for example, from time to time and, with time, you should be able to put together a pretty original engine and Porsche with a nice color combo. Great to see you and your partner preserving early Porsche 911 history. Have fun!

Good job on the find Henk !

In regards to this guy here, Bobs 67S, listen to all the good man has to offer up on these early cars. He is capable of writing encyclopedias on these cars, and takes little to no credit for the wealth of knowledge he has accumulated......

A good soul to be trusted and relied upon.
And a source of Porsche wisdom that gurus of the marque only can hope to envy.

Thanks Bob, we will find out indeed. The car is now on a truck on its way to CA. As soon as it arrives I will starting to take it apart completely, to a bare shell/tub, can't wait, so most likely I will find wiring to go somewhere from the switch and then we should be able to draw a conclusion.

I did find out about the 232 registry and have been in contact with Arthur Smid who knew the car and gave me some additional info.

I would appreciate all your feedback and help! Thanks in advance!

    Hi Peter,

Still in the process of dismantling the car so not much progress, but I am enjoying it even just sitting in my shop, lots of attention to the car.
Clients' cars have priority so I guess it will take a while longer then I had hoped for. I have some pictures posted and will report progress on my website, click on "restorations" in the menu bar.
I am very happy that I was recently able to purchase a complete engine with the engine number only 14 apart from the one that was in the car when new.

    kind regards, Henk
