    Looking for Yamaha V-Max

Maybe a long shot, but I´ll try anyway...

    I´m looking for a pristine original first-year (1985) Yamaha V-Max.
Since most (all?) of the first year of production were sold in the US,
I thought I´ll ask you guys if you happen to know of any suitable ones available?

    Many thanks,
    Mika

    V-Max

    The "original" Muscle Bike!

There are a few around but "pristine" is questionable. You might try the VJMC (Vintage Japanese Motorcyle Club) here in the U.S..

Another option is to look at:

    Good luck,

    Tom

PS: I will PM you with a contact who has sold a number of bikes to Europe. He's a collector/broker who I've known for some time. Positive feedback from all who have transacted business with him.

    Bought

    Found one from Germany.
    Thanks everybody!

These first year models are future classics, buy one while they are still cheap

    Resto finished

I finally finished restoration of my ´85 V-Max yesterday.

Countless NOS/Genuine Yamaha parts were used and the only contracted jobs were painting of the "tank" and fenders and fitting/balancing of the tires.

Now it´s time to concentrate on my 911 resto and enjoy driving the Max

    Ahhhh, Mad Max.

The original tire-scorching road burner. A motorcycle that will rip your arms off at a twist of the grip.

    Truly one of the greats.

As an aside - in reference to the comment made earlier about "first year of production" machines - also rare and of substantial "value" to collectors is the 1998 Yamaha R1. VERY hard to find in unmolested, uncrashed condition, the 1998 R1 rewrote the rules for performance motorcycles. Very cool piece of history...

    Speaking of cool bikes...

Not to hijack anyone's thread,here...but I'm seriously thinking about one of these for my short, morning commute. Out here in the desert where I live, I could do this damn near year round...
    What d'ya think?

    Here's another one...

that I'm looking at - another great piece for that morning commute.
I'd hafta paint it, tho - that color looks like it needs a ham hock on the tank...

OK - enough about me - this thread is about "DR"s V-Max, which looks to be a phenomenal bike. Enjoy that beast in good health.

Thom - avoid the Guzzi classic ... it's a real stink pile. The Monster is a fantastic bike, but the 1100S is the only one worth getting because of the value per dollar in terms of stock parts.

You can also find a 2008 Hypermotard S for $9500 fully loaded on Craigslist. That was the bike I wish I never sold...

    Wow...what a looker.
This the bike you sold? the bike on Craigslist? or neither? Looks nice.
Trellis frame setup looks totally different than on a Monster.
I can see why the 1100S Monster would be the best value...my problem is - as a rookie - I don't have (yet) a full appreciation of what's on it. The 1100S is a very sweet looking ride regardless.

I guess I need to get legal again, and get back out there...

    Cheers
