Thread: Tires for my '68 pt 2: 205/65?

    I just put some 205/55-16 BFGoodrich g-Force Sport A/S tires on my (more or less) stock '73.5 T and 16x6 Fuchs.

    I had a rubbing issue with the front bumper and as you can see from the photo my wheel wheels are pretty full. As noted above, the fit will be a function of the tire brand as well as the size.

    As another data point, my (departed) '67 912 had 205/60-15's on 15x6 fuchs. The wheel wells were pretty filled. Looked like this:

    Steelies for show, Fuchs for go. I like the look...a lot...but you can feel how heavier the steelies are. And for some reason, tire shops have a harder time balancing my steelies...I may have one that's slightly out of round; who knows.

    Shorter tires...way fun, but if you have to drive any distance to get to the "way fun" roads, the higher rpms make for a real buzzy ride. And since my 68 is already lowered, a shorter tire really does make for ground clearance concerns.

    A second set of wheets may be the best of both worlds!
