Thread: So I went to go buy some Fuchs...

So I went to go buy some Fuchs...

Last week I went to pick up some 7/9x16 Fuchs to use as track rims - unfortunately when I got there, I found they were not polished as advertised, but rather chromed. I've heard some horror stories about chromed fuchs being weaked and unsuitable for track use. The owner said he may have another set for me, but they were 15's

Anyway, I got over there today and picked them up - 773 date coded 9x15s and 973 date coded 11x15s! I paid a decent price for them, but now am faced with some RSR rear flares to replace the current RS ones on the car

Not a bad problem to have!

Congrats.... I guess you could say Christmas came early for you!
    those belong to RSR's
rare and valuable early wheels using the 3 prong.
can I ask what finish and condition these are?
I also found an identical set a few weeks ago, 6/73 and 12/72...I think?
I'll have to look, they're not here.

I wonder how many were made and how far back they go since they only fit flared race cars.

maybe Harvey could do a thread on Fuchs evolution, production and factory pics and stats ...or maybe a thread already exists?

Sherwood made a great chart breaking down the wheels and their specs for Pcars. http://members.rennlist.com/911pcars/WheelWts.html

    Gawd, I love this board.

These had spent a few seasons on a race car, so the finish is now polished outer lip w/ black centres. They have a small amount of curb rash and one 9" looks to have had a weld bead laid inside a petal to repair a small crack. My plan it to get them out to Harvey to get a proper restoreation done on them.

maybe you should have them chrome plated!

    Nice score!
