Euro vs US '69 S transmission type

Am I correct in thinking that all US '69S cars came w/ 901/13 type magnesium case transmissions and the Euro '69S came w/ an aluminum 901/07? Was it possible to get the 901/07 in a US spec car and what is the difference in the gearing between the two? Thanks, John

    I believe that 901/06 and 901/07 were the Al versions of the 4 spd and 5 spd respectively for 1969. At the very end of November the Mg versions were introduced becoming 901/12 & 901/13 respectively. 901/06 & 901/12 were A HB S Z, and the 901/07 & 901/13 were A F M S Z.

I have a 901/07 alu cased transmission. However, I seem to recall that it came out of a '69 911E, not S.

My car does have a 901/07 as listed in this letter from the Porsche factory dated 11.04.91, and at the same time calls out the original selling dealer as "Porsche of America" and optioned w/ "US equipment".

    Smile 1969 911 Transmission

My 1969 911S, VIN 119300093, engine # 6390165, build date 11/13/68 has transmission #7190425, type 901/07 and it is aluminum, five speed. I have confirmed these as correct and original for the car.
