Thread: Restoration of a RHD 2.2S.

    Hi,

Thanks again. Don't worry Ed that is a work in progress pic, the end product uses a standard hex nut, Porsche did not use nylock on those bolts. The engine is fitted and I hope to fire it up soon, I will take a movie and post it here.

    Thanks

    Alan

    Hi,

I managed to spend some more time on detailing parts. I think we may have beat the chroming of the glove box lock! Well we also did the nuts inside the ash try and the sun visor arms.

I am now starting to get ready to rebuild the MFI stacks

and up the front end we needed to find some RHD only parts, ie the fresh air fan housing and the steering cover. These are unique to RHD.

    Thanks

    Alan

Also the interior is finished bar the foot rest/boards and fitting the new opening door pockets yet to arrive from Porsche.

I am really happy with how the original steering wheel truned out. We stripped, painted and re-trimmed it, plus found a replacement horn push.

    Thanks for looking

    Alan

    Alan,

I know it's a LHD car and not as rare as the RHD cars that you typically work on but this '69 S would benefit from your recent experience.

I have no affiliation to the car but I do hope that you or someone of your capabilities takes it on.

    Hi,

I managed to spend a little more time on the car and it is now almost finished. Work permitting I should also be firing up the engine tomorrow.

We have had these engine bay stickers remade as new ones from Porsche are different colours, incorrect details and some are also NLA. We now also have all timing (fan strap) stickers for all 911 models from 69-73.

I can’t wait to drive it.

    Thanks

    Alan

I found a few more pics of other new parts fitted recently. We have stripped and re-calibrated the MFI pump and now fitted along with the fully rebuilt throttle bodies. The fan has been correctly detailed - I will rivet this back together tomorrow.

    Thanks

    Alan

Words can't even describe what you've been able to do... absolutely awesome. Was/Is this a customer car? Personal "holy grail" or what? I'd buy it if it was for sale, but I've got wayyyy too much $$ wrapped up into tooling right now (as you know).

    cheers,
    Eric

    2nd Tag?

    Hello, Alan . . . .

What is the 2nd little tag I see pop-riveted above the factory's VIN tag?

    Hi Eric and Rick,

This car is actually my own car but unfortunately will be up for sale upon completion. I would love to keep it alas once it has been run it and tuned on the rolling road it will be on our for sale page (when I get round to finishing the web site). Rick that second plate was for UK cars, the BS is for the "British Standard" in this case it is for the front Seat Belts.

    Thanks

    Alan
