    Restoration of a RHD 2.2S.

Okay, I'll bite, which panel do you start with ? Don't suppose you could take it back to Reutter and have them run it through the line again

    Hi Ed,

The chap that is doing the welding has started to put new metal back in the car. Besides all the new panels, including, NS front inner wing, both inner rear wings, all bolt on panels, roof, scuttle, tank support and surround, inner sills outer sills, jack points etc, front and rear slam panels plus more, there is a huge amount of handmade panels that have been made. What pictures I have attached just show some of the work in some of the areas but I hope they give a good idea of the level we want to achieve.

Eg. This is the work just on the RH screen corner, which is constructed from several layers.

    Thanks

    Alan

    Incredible work, Alan!

I suppose since you own a shop, this can be your personal project and you can write off your labor, lucky for the car !!! I don't think it would have made financial sense for a customer job, unless the RHD S are even more expensive in the UK. Simply amazing, I'd never seen one quite so gutted before !

wow, curvy multiple layer sections, that's a task!
given that a lot of the metal repair needed has no replacement panels or pieces available, I will say hats off to these metal masters!

Alan, having done what you're doing, but on a much SMALLER !! scale, I am in awe of your fabrication talents. If you weren't 10,000 miles away I'd be hangin around watching and learning. This gives a whole new meaning to the word "restoration"

    Hi,

Thanks for all the kind words. With regards to the welding and body panel fabrication (mechcanics/motor and gear box resto to follow) I do not want to detract from the talent of the chap completing the bodywork, Barry Carter. Up to date we have restored and rescued a few 911s but this has to be the worst. I have some more pics that I will post soon.

    Thanks again

    Alan

Having seen Barry's work at first hand, I can testify that the man is an absolute genius - a 'metal bashing' Michelangelo whilst Alan probably deserves to be sectioned and locked up in a secure institution.

Keep up the good work mate
