Thread: 'Events on the East Coast'

  1. #11
Are we discussing possible events on this thread or do we keep this thread for announcements?

    Some general ideas:

-Rally in the Valley (assuming it continues, don't mean to presume...)
-Hershey (as mentioned somewhere else this is a great opportunity for some local driving AND they do an ax the day after on that HUGE lot!).
-Doing a PCA ax as a group somewhere central (such as Hershey) would be a hoot!
-O's game coupled with garage tour (assuming we could convince certain folks to allow us a peek!).
-Rolex/Grand Am race at NJMP (or any other events). It is possible De PCA region will have parking corral there...

Hurley Haywood is speaking at Tech Tactics in Danbury Saturday night the weekend before the LA Lit Met - around the 27th I think.

Hey here is something I have been thinking about.

The Blue Ridge parkway is turning 75 this year. I am thinking about a multiday drive. The first group will meet in Ashville NC, and head north. Stopover in VA and head into Shenandoah National Park. There we can meet up with the northern crew, and head south. The first group can head home while the second group heads back north.

Now that might be an east coast gathering with some great roads and views….

If folks like this, I will post an itinerary…

Here is a google map. For those that have never driven the north Georgia mountains, you'll find the roads very smooth. You'll also find the roads very free of traffic (there may may a cow or deer near the roads but the black bears tend to stay away from the roads ).

Vic has done a great job of putting this event together. If your wife or mistress doesn't like to cruise all day, there are plenty of antique and gift shops in the area. Just leave her your credit card.

The drive will be at your pace. We will have stops at least every hour so everyone will stay together. Every stop will include pictures that will posted here.

I'll pass out some crude maps (i.g.; crude, as no one with the Esses magazine will ever invite me to write an article ) before the Saturday drive event. There are some nasty little turns that can sneak up on you which I will mark with a red "XX".

I plan to invite a couple of good Porsche mechanics if you have a problem.

The Georgia gang meet yesterday for lunch. We are all looking forward to a fun weekend that we can exercise our cars within our abilities and have some fun after we park them.

We can't drive as well as a left coast guys, but we know how to have fun.
