Feedback on Otto's in Venice, CA

It seems that most of us in the West LA and San Fernando Valley take our cars to TRE or TLG. I haven't heard anyone mention Otto's in Venice. I live in the West Side so having an alternative to driving over the hill would be welcome. Anyone have any experience with Otto's?

John aka "Otto" is a very very capable guy. He comes with a bit of personality as well. Some don't mind that and some do. But he does fix cars very well.

John was my instructor at the last POC event 1/25 and I cannot speak highly enough of his skill behind the wheel and his ability to get me to go A LOT faster. He holds the track record at Streets of Willow.

I take my cars to TLG because they are the best, know my car, care about the car AND me. Excellent work done right the first time at a fair price. I would also venture to say both Tony and Marco have personality to spare. I do this despite the fact they are nowhere near me because it is incomprehensible to go anywhere else. I wish Italy was 20 minutes away too instead of a nightmare schlep but it is where it is.

That said I may well take my AMG E55 to Otto's now the warranty has expired instead of going to the stealership. I hear he has an excellent facilty for MBZ and BMW.

Maybe you should drop by and meet him. If you do and bring a car, tell him how you'd like it fixed.

After you pull your car out of your butt, you'll begin to understand "personality."

Exactly the same could be said of Ludwig Heimrath of Toronto, ON, Canada who also owned his own shop (and it once was a dealership as well).
Incidentally, he was also a noted hotshoe.

I think he beat out Peter Gregg for the TransAm title in '75 or '76. (?) Is this him in the Henninger car?

Most likely Ludwig, although he had co-drivers occasionally.
Henninger sponsored Ludwig from about June 1975 through about Sept 1976.
Gregg was champ in 1973 & 1974, Heimrath in 1977.
