Great Story and a BIG Thank You!

You may remember my previous post about the 67 911S King Hendinger race car that I own: Post 1 and Detailed profile on my website.

Several days ago I got a phone call from Early S member, Allen (Dr 911E), who I had never spoken with before. After a brief introduction, he said, "Do you know that the engine for your car is for sale on eBay?".

I was shocked, 308505S has been a race car since the day it was new. We know that it blew a motor while running the 1975 24 Hours of Daytona, but who knew if it was the original motor (seems unlikely). In the world of old race cars, the original engine is just not likely to be around.

But there it was, right there on eBay, engine #962163, for sale by a VW repair shop in Florida.

The auction ended this morning. The high bid was a little more than I expected, but the block will be reunited with the car.

A huge public Thank You to Allen for making the connection between an old broken engine block and my car!

This is an awesome story. Same happened here, I was not looking for 2.8 RSR 9113600636's engine when it was put on sale in a EBS race car on Ebay. The engine left the car in 74 when the engine was replaced with a 3.0 unit. The original was build in the EBS car by Max Moritz racing who owned both cars at the time. The car made its way to the US then Australia and was put up for sale two years ago. We didnt buy it due to price but when the car was sold we bought the casing from new owner. He removed it from EBS and replaced it. Many thanx to HughH for spotting it on ebay and the new owner of EBS car for selling it for a realistic price.
Below is the RSR the EBS car and the engine still in EBS car.

Thanks on the car Chuck. The little girl is one of Rod Emory's mechanics daughter. Sorry I can't remember her name.
