Thread: Two different length ARB drop links!

Two different length ARB drop links!

Well it seems that the more time I spend with the parts for the restoration of my 1966 911, the more I realize that the Factory made a lot of changes on the run. . . I have to check the parts book, but it looks like there was a change in the length of the ARB drop link along the way! Check these out!

Both are 901 343 076 03. . . I think. Have to check the old book for a different number.

I sourced some LWB hardware for the ARB, presuming it was "identical." Does anyone know which is SWB and which is LWB? I suppose I could figure it out from the amount of "droop."

It DOES provide a measure of adjustability, though! One long link and one short to dial out the preload. . .

John, I'll try to remember to measure the ones on my 67 since they're off and handy, tomorrow when I go to the shop. (this something I certainly wasn't aware of )

    My SWB parts book shows a 901 343 076 01. LWB book shows a 901 343 076 03.

Ed, that would be excellent, thanks. I'll post the center-to-center length on Sunday.

Harvey, thank you very much for looking it up, that is a big help. Now I just need to figure out which is which. I have new bushings and steel inserts ready to go.

Thanks gents! Stay tuned for more mysteries as I turn a big pile of parts into a running car!

Next problem, my 66 and my 70 measure about the same (Approx 8 3/4 C to C). (Upside down with a yardstick in the dark) Hope you have better luck. My 66 had sways added later so they may have used the late ones?

The ones that came off my '66 are 24mm C to C. I have another set, of unknown origin, that measure 23mm C to C. I never noticed they were different.
