    Question badge authentication help?

Hi. Can the experts please tell me if this badge is authentic before I put it on the car (feels like i did not pay enough)? The markings on the back appear correct, prongs soldered, and the bars faded in-between red and orange, but I have not seen enough of these to know for sure. Thank you very much!

looks real to me. It has the detail of the stallion and soft dimples. Markings on the back are correct and in the right positions.

Do yourself a favor, and please don't polish this badge, they don't respond well to it.

Best to get some jewelery cleaner, I have a small jar that I dip mine into. Then use a soft toothbrush. Results are better than polishing and far less abrasive, and you get the wax out from the crevices.

Note to be careful on how long you leave the badge in the cleaner... too long and it will take the gold off (don't ask me how I know!). But, that was when I accidentally left one in overnight....

That's a nice badge... Yes, just drop it in the same jar as your dentures... that way you don't forget it in the morning....

That badge really has perfect patina.

You can also just use some hot water and soap with a small soft toothbrush and that's it. Pat and blot it dry. Just watch out for the peeling black or orange enamel. That stuff likes to just come off when you are the most careful.

Get a new seal and nuts, put it on and enjoy.

    Thanks

Thank you all. I'm definitely not going to restore or polish it, but might try hot water and soap before installing. Just have to resist the urge now to start collecting these...
