Vin stamping 72, the black brush mark from factory?

    Hi guys,

    Here's my only question:
Can you please tell if the black brush mark on the vin stamping was done when the car first came out from the factory?

    The reason:
This 930 guard red has vin stamping, the aluminum plate and the vin tag at A pillar indicate the car should be a 1972.
It has Ruf engine/transmission, 930 calipers, discs, aluminum rear pick up suspension, hard to see if there battery boxes because they were sealed off, the front apron is in SC style.

So what year is this car?

    First possibility:
The car is always a 930 but someone put the 72 plate on it and register it as 1972.

    Second possibility:
The car was an actual 72 but someone put fenders/flare and the Ruf engine on to it.

I hope this is not too confusing.
    Many thanks
    Burint

That is a 1972 911T from all the tags and stampings.
I suppose it is possible that it was converted by Ruf, but then you would expect some sort of a Ruf tag on it.
The black brush mark on the VIN stamp looks original.

    A useful thread perhaps:

    I second that, it's only 24 away from my VIN! I have a January 1972 built 911T.
