Correct Hood Badge for 1974 Carrera?

Does anyone know the correct hood badge for the 1974 U.S. Carrera? i.e., orange or red stripes? I understand the color of the stripes may have changed sometime during the 1974 model year.

I realize that this is not a longhood question, however there is alot of knowledge within the members of this registry.

    Thanks.

Your MY '74 hood badge should have orange bars ..... I believe the change to red was made for the '75 MY.

Others should weigh in on this.....

I once owned a very original 74 Carrera. It had an orange bar crest as well as other original 74 Carreras thaat I have seen over the years. I would say orange is correct.

My 75 US Carrera has orange bar crest as well. It was one of the last 5 made, not sure when they switched over to red bar, also not positive it belongs on the car, but it's a low owner original car. Looking at the pics of some of the low mile unrestored 75 Carrera's that have been for sale, I think orange bar is correct for both years.

    74&75 hood crest

74 cars should have the orange one, and I know a 75 carrera (early production) with original paint that still has the original one, with orange bars as well.
Not so sure about 75 turbos, the white one with 16.000kms at Road SCholars seems to have a red one and is said to be a totally original car. Maybe the red bars were introduced with the turbo.

Interesting that the 75 Carreras here have orange bar hood crests. I have a very original, low(ish) mileage 75 S that has a red bar badge. I am very confident that it is original to the car and has not been changed.

Production Date on the 75 S is 10/74 #1029 or #1030. I can't remember and my records aren't with me. Chassis is one of those (I think 1029) and the engine is the other (1030 IIRC).

Wow, it's even a early one even. I think mine is 5/75.

Interesting to see how this plays out, I've owned 2 75 Carrera's both orange bar, 1st one original paint.

Hhmmm, I too find these details interesting. My car is also an original paint car and none of the previous long-term owners would have had any reason to change the hood badge. And I even asked the gentleman from whom I bought the car if he had ever changed it since I was surprised to see red. The original purchaser of the car recently "visited" the car (and me) and he never mentioned changing it.
