I went with BF Goodrich in 225/55/16 front, and 255/50/16 rear. Overall dia is within spec for a C4. And not too pricy. I think the sidewall height and bulge look period correct. Hope that helps.

I have to ask the obvious question, does anyone know if there is a 17 inch Design 90?

To the best of my knowledge the D-90 was only produced in 16". They came in 6, 7, 7.5, 8, and 9". There were 2 offsets for the 8".

I am loving it Bob ! I hope you bring this car to Treffen for show & tell. Never really considered a Targa...until now !

A new D90 trend has emerged ! Kudos to you Bob, well done !

I have 8 inch x 16 rears and 16x? front in storage, just don't know but I will check. There is a 18 inch D90 but I would prefer 17 inch, I have googled it and to my surprise the biggest fans and the reason we may have missed the cheap plentiful boat of choice is that VW owners globally think anything 928 or 944 looks bitchin on a VDub. Even (so help me) phone dials. If you have an 80 Jetta you are dreaming of a set of D90s which you can spray paint the color of your choice; their boards are full of success stories where they bought a 4 set of D90s for $75 at the junk yard.
Guys, if you have a 964 and HATE D90s (as I did for years) buy them now and store them before they become Deep 6 Fuchs!
So I am looking for some 16x9 inch D90 rears, anyone got any? I also want a set of 17 inchers if they exist, my new "grail".
    Best,

I was told today by an friend that this thread and the people here who sing the praises of the 964 are responsible for the lack of cars on offer and the rise in asking prices. My only response was why did you not listen then rather than cry now?

That view point strikes me as a bit silly. I am sure the interest expressed here has led some, who had never considered this model, to purchase one but the 964 Rennlist board has been super active for longer than this thread has been going.

Seems to me the vast majority of the interest has come from the run up in the pre-74 classic models. Those have become out of reach so the later air cooled models have drawn an increasing amount of interest as well as a raise in prices. One thing is for sure, nice condition coupes are very tough to come by.

If you listened before then listen again: better go find yourself a 2004 996 GT3 while they're still out there. They are the last spiritual successor to the 1973 Carrera RS, and the last car you could buy WITHOUT the nanny controls. They're simple - relatively speaking, of course - super easy to drive, somewhat inexpensive to run, and they're juuuuuuuust starting to trend upward in price.

Get ahead of the curve and buy your 996 GT3 now.
