This is Jean-Pierre Richelmi's car. There was a road test of it into an old French magazine. It was registered N100 in Monaco.
Mr Richelmi has (had?) a nice collection of Groupe B, including a 959.

Looks like a nice one. I wonder if it has the factory umbrella/seat in the trunk? I think it was UK cars only. Steve's car still had this in the trunk but I didn't get a pic. It's an umbrella with a fold-out leather strap seat and aluminum base.

Steve's car is supposed to be the one that was used as a tow car for an urq rally car on a trailer and there are pics floating around. We found some traces underneath where the hitch appears to have been mounted.

One for sale currently on BAT.

Looks to be an "OK" example.
These cars both intrigue me and scare me due to the unavailability of parts, etc.
Nothing like that 5 cylinder shriek though....

    '82 Quattro . . .

    . . . on BaT . . .

'. . . This 1982 Audi Ur-Quattro is believed to be one of a few early cars that were brought to the US to demo the model and was sold new in Woodside, New York. It is optioned with no sunroof or rear wiper and was acquired by the previous owner in 1993 and then by the seller approximately seven years ago. Modifications include an Intended Acceleration chip, Euro-market front bumper, Frankani black taillights, Ur-S4/Ur-S6 front and rear brakes, Eibach springs, Koni shocks, and H1/H4 lights. A glass-out repaint was performed earlier this year, and the turbocharged 2.1L inline-five was rebuilt in 1995 and sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual. Included records show a timing belt change, as well as services to the brakes and clutch. Additional records dating back to 1993 are provided, and the car is offered with a clean Connecticut title in the seller’s name.

The car had assorted corrosion issues addressed earlier this year, with all work detailed in the gallery. It was given a glass-out repaint in red following the body repairs, and multiple photos of the car throughout the process are provided. New Audi decals, stripe kit, a new windshield, and new rain tray were added following the repaint.

Notably, this car was optioned with no sunroof and no rear window wiper. Exterior modifications include a European-market front bumper, Frankani black taillights, and relayed H1/H4 Euro front lights. The lowered stance is courtesy of Eibach springs paired with Koni shocks, and the silver Fuchs five-spoke wheels are mounted with Dunlop SP Sport 5000 tires. The original US bumper and taillights are included in the sale.

The interior is trimmed in chocolate brown leather, with wear present on the seat bolsters and bottoms. The headliner and door panels are trimmed in matching patterned leather. The seller notes that the air conditioning was last serviced in 2015 and that the dash is free of cracks.

A pair of VDO gauges showing boost pressure and water temperature are mounted to the left of the Audi Sport three-spoke steering wheel. Just under 155k miles are shown on the odometer, approximately 10k of which were added by the seller during his seven years of ownership. The original radio has remained installed in the car and is functional. The original wheel is included in the sale, and pictures of the factory unit can be seen in the gallery.

Power comes from a turbocharged 2.1L WX inline-five that was rebuilt in 1995 at 106k miles. The engine was modified during the rebuild with a ported MC head, three-angle valve grind, water cooled K26 turbo, Intended Acceleration chip, and aluminum radiator. The unit sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual transmission that has received an updated clutch, rebuilt axles, and new wheel bearings. Service records dating back to 1993 are included in the sale, and the seller indicates that updates to the brakes, hydraulic systems, and a new timing belt have occurred.

Multiple photos of the car during the bodywork and repaint are included in the gallery.

The original owners manual and other documents are provided. Photos of the included service records can be seen in the gallery including details of the engine rebuild . . .

    '85 Quattro . . .

    . . . on BaT . . .

'. . . This 1985 Audi Ur-Quattro Coupe is said to be one of 664 US-market examples built during a three-year production run and was acquired by the seller four and half years ago. The car is finished in Stone Grey Metallic over grey leather and features modifications including a short-throw shifter, Euro headlights, and 4-piston front brakes. A turbocharged 2.1L inline-five sends power to all four wheels through a 5-speed manual gearbox and three locking differentials. Work completed in 2016 and 2017 involved a rebuilt steering rack and VDO gauges as well as the installation of new clutch hydraulics. Now showing just under 119k miles, this Ur-Quattro is offered with records from its three previous owners, original owner’s literature and accessories, a clean AutoCheck report, and a clear Colorado title.

This example is said to be one of 73 US-market examples imported for the updated 1985 model year. Changes included plastic Quattro badges rather than decals, and Quattro scripts were spelled out in the rear defogger lines. A Kevlar trunk lid reduced weight and featured a body-color spoiler. Fully independent suspension used Macpherson struts, coil springs, and anti-roll bars front and rear. Disc brakes were featured at all four corners, here upgraded with 4-piston front calipers.

This example was previously offered on BaT in January 2016 and is offered once again by the same seller. A 2012 repaint in the original color of Stone Grey Metallic was conducted by the third owner, who also installed European-market headlights and front bumper trim. Optional 15″ Ronal R8 wheels have been powder-coated and wear Kumho Ecsta tires. The seller notes a replacement door was fitted in the early 1990s in order to repair a dent, though no receipts are present.

Grey leather seats have been partially re-stitched by Autoweave European and Antique Restoration in Denver, Colorado, and the passenger-side seat rails were reportedly replaced with OEM units. Interior refreshments for the 1985 model year included a new-style black dash, here housing an air conditioning system converted to run R134a refrigerant as well as a restored factory cassette player.

Interior equipment is said to function as it should including the AWD controls, vacuum central locking, and power windows. The late knob-style differential lock switch was replaced in 2015. The VDO speedometer was rebuilt with a new odometer gear in 2017 by Foreign Speedo in San Diego, California. Per the seller, the car was driven approximately 100 miles while the unit was inoperable. The odometer now shows just under 119k miles, including approximately 4,200 miles added under current ownership.

The turbocharged 2.1L inline-five featured electronically-controlled fuel injection and output was rated at 160 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque when new. According to the seller, services in 2012 under previous ownership included rebuilding the turbo and cylinder head as well as replacement of the brakes and water pump. Work performed over the last four years by Modern Specialists in Boulder, Colorado included rebuilding the steering rack and replacing the differential lock switch, a high beam relay, an auxiliary fan switch, and the throttle cable bushings. The alternator and timing belt were last replaced in February 2015 at 117k miles and the most recent service on April 2018 included a mechanical inspection, as well as a routine oil/filter service.

New clutch master and and slave cylinders were also fitted in 2017. Per the seller, the exhaust is fitted with a new old-stock muffler and center section, and a catalytic converter is said to remain in place. Additional photos of the underbody are viewable in the gallery below . . .

    '81 Quattro . . .

'. . . This 1981 Audi Quattro is a European-market model that was imported into the US in 1982 through California Porsche-Audi Inc. in San Francisco, and it was delivered to Idaho following US certification by Ferrari Compliance of Santa Ana, California. It is finished in silver over Zebra-patterned two-tone cloth, and it is powered by a turbocharged 2.1-liter inline-five paired with a five-speed manual transaxle and a Quattro all-wheel drive. Equipment includes a sunroof, 15″ alloy wheels, front fog lights, and locking center and rear differentials. The current owner acquired the car in 2003 and has since added approximately 3k of its 24k indicated miles. Recent service included flushing the braking and cooling systems, an alignment, cleaning the fuel tank, and replacing the timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, battery, tires, and more as listed below. This Euro Ur-Quattro is now offered on dealer consignment with a set of removed BBS wheels, 1982 sales paperwork, period literature, receipts, a clean Carfax report, and a clean Idaho title.

The car is finished in silver with Audi decals on the lower corners of both doors and a black-finished trunk lid, and the selling dealer notes that paint meter readings indicate that areas of the car have been refinished. Features include European-specification bumpers, fender flares, front fog lights, a raised rear spoiler, and a removable sunroof.

Ronal 15″ alloy wheels are mounted with 195/65 Kumho Solus TA31 tires up front and 215/60 Kumho Solus TA11 tires out back, which were installed in September 2020. A temporary spare wheel and tire are mounted in the trunk, and a set of gold-finished 15″ multi-piece BBS E52 wheels will accompany the sale and are shown in the gallery below. In August 2020 the brake system was flushed and an alignment was performed.

The interior features bolstered seats with mocha brown cloth upholstery and ‘Zebra’ patterned inserts, which extends to the door panels and matching headliner. A panel in the center console contains differential lock controls, and the selling dealer notes that the cassette stereo does not work.

The four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of VDO instrumentation that includes an 85-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer with a checkered redline, a boost-pressure gauge, a fuel-level gauge, and an analog clock. The six-digit odometer shows approximately 24k miles, fewer than 3k of which are said to have been added by the owner over the previous 17 years.

The turbocharged 2.1-liter inline-five was rated at 200 horsepower in European specification. Records indicate that the turbocharger and exhaust manifold were replaced in the 1990s at approximately 21k miles. Recent service included cleaning the fuel tank and airflow meter, flushing the coolant, and replacing the timing belt, water pump, fuel pump, distributor cap and rotor, valve cover gasket, drive belt, mufflers, battery, and ignition components. More than $4,500 in recent receipts are provided in the gallery below.

Power is delivered to all four wheels through a five-speed manual transaxle and a Quattro all-wheel-drive system with locking center and rear differentials. Receipts indicate that outer CV boots have been replaced, and seepage is noted from the rear differential. The seller also notes areas of the underside that have been damaged from improper jacking, and additional photos of the underside . . .

Sales paperwork dated May 1982 from California Porsche-Audi in San Francisco indicates factory equipment and a total price of $39,240, which included US certification by Ferrari Compliance of Santa Ana, California
