Thread: What year is this fan shroud for?

What year is this fan shroud for?

For a while I have this red fan shroud hanging to my wall and I actually don't know what year it's for.

It looks to be carburetor engine w/ a duct for the oil cooler.

    I appreciate your thoughts.

Late and likely a 3.2 Carrera. 1st ones had no external oil cooler ducting. Second ones had a duct that was riveted* on. This one make access to the oil cooler easier with a short duct.

Damon at Series 900 taught me anything I know about these but I'm a slow learner so what I just told you could be total BS.

    Thanks Tom.

Is it correct that this style could be than considered 3rd ones?

    1st one's .. no duct
    2nd one's .. riveted duct
    3rd one's .. short duct

It is a late SC shroud. The plug wires left marks on the top or the shroud. Carrera had wire holder over fan housing and wouldn't leave marks. Carrera shrouds are also black. It also has large holes for A/C mounting washers that were not present on early SC. Gordon

I have one of these also with injector clearance and plan to use it on my 2.4 S MFI hotrod, any reason to avoid using it? Steve

The SC shroud works great for MFI engines. Just cut Injector cutouts that you can see in the fiberglass and the hole for idle adjustment and you are good to go. I use a die grinder with a small carbide bit to cut holes. Gordon

The red shroud pictured is a 3.0 SC shroud. The later 3.2 shrouds were black.
