New Vendor for 911 Restoration Parts

    Hello Group,

I would like to introduce you all to my relatively-new parts company, VeloceSpace, specializing in restoration rubber, wiring harnesses, and windshields for vintage Porsches, including both 356s and early 911s.

Some of you may have heard of us, or even met us at the recent L.A. shows; it was a pleasure meeting those of you who stopped by and provided us with valuable feedback. One gentleman who visited was John Dilger, who upon discovering that we carry a variety of parts for 911s, invited us to become a member of the Early 911S Registry, which we have. We are also planning on running an advertisement in the club newsletter, as soon as we get it designed.

VeloceSpace was established just last August (2009), debuting at the Concorso Italiano in Monterey. Our focus was originally in rubber for Italian vintage sports cars, including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati. Our rubber supplier is located in Italy, and is in fact the original factory that supplied rubber to all Italian marques starting in the '50s, if not earlier. In the 1960s, at the request of a German Porsche club, our supplier proceeded to develop a very precise and accurate set of molds for all 356 rubber parts, products of which have served as our stepping stones into the vintage Porsche world last Fall. A set of molds/dies for early 911s was subsequently developed.

Our 356 rubber seals have had good reviews from end-users, and well-respected shops such as Willhoit Auto Restoration and California Porsche Restoration have both begun/plan to begin using our seals for their 356 projects. CPR is also interested in our 911 seals, and these will be evaluated once they arrive in our warehouse in two weeks or so.

There are two main reasons why our seals have garnered interest recently: precision of the molds and dies used, producing very clean and accurate parts; pliability/softness of the rubber, making fit a non-issue.

We also carry wiring harnesses, standard and customized. We have patterns for nearly-all 356 variants, as well as the 911s (unfortunately we will require those original connectors for the 911s!). Our harnesses are built in England, by the OEM supplier to many of the well-known British marques; the quality is impeccable, and accuracy dependable as patterns are based on original harnesses. We've also kept our harness pricing more than reasonable, at significantly below $2,000 for the 911. Customizations are always welcomed, and delivery is usually within five weeks from time of order; we have never had a delay.

We have a variety of windshields for the 356, and have a tinted windshield for early 911s. Again, we've kept it affordable, as we like to strive for volume over margin.

We are based in San Jose, CA, but do our best to show our products at various venues in and around California. We've been at the L.A. Lit/Swap Meets, and our next formal outing will be at the CSRG Season Opening Race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA, on 4/10 and 4/11, followed by a booth at the annual North Meets South in San Luis Obispo, CA, on Friday in the Vendor Room. We will also have a presence at the 2nd Annual Marin/Sonoma Concours d'Elegance in May, in Marin, CA, where Porsche is this year's featured marque. You will also find us at Concorso Italiano this August in Monterey.

For those of you who absolutely can't wait, I will be driving a black '63 Alfa Romeo Spider during the Targa California next week in Thousand Oaks (black CA plate no. DGR928; I'm staying at both "official" hotels); I'll bring a few representative parts with me to show and tell if anyone would like to have a look-see.

All our parts are listed on our website under the "Porsche" category, but we truly enjoy speaking to our customers over the phone or communicating through e-mail to discuss their needs. Our contact info. is as follows:

    Marin Sonoma Concours d'Elegance

    Hello folks,

We'd like to inform you that we will have a booth at the Marin Sonoma Concours d'Elegance, at the Marin County Fairgrounds, in San Rafael, CA, this coming Sunday. This is only the concours' second year, but we hear that last year was quite successful, and this year promises to be even better. More importantly, they're doing a tribute to the Porsche marque, so all Porschephiles should come out and enjoy the day and the cars.

On our front, we now have all of our available 911 rubber seals in stock. Please note that our supplier is not one of the "usual suspects" here in the U.S., but one in Italy, using a set of dies and molds that are highly precise and accurate; the rubber is also much softer to conform better to the body work. We have understood the quarter window seals to be a perennial problem; we may have that solved; please come by and have a look during the show. We will also be bringing a 911 clear windshield for demonstration.

Following is a list of our 911 seals (Targa available but not shown here):

    Windshield Gasket
    Rear Window Gasket
    Quarter Window Gasket (Open)
    Quarter Window Gasket (Fixed)
Door Surround Seal (Series 1 or 2)
    Under-Door Seal
    Hood Seal
    Engine Compartment Seal
    Bumper Strip
    Headlight Assembly Gasket
    Headlight Glass Gasket
Bumper Cover and Under Frame Strip
External Side Window Wiper Strip (sits on top of door)

As usual we will have a full complement of 356 rubber seals on hand to show/sell.

We hope to see you this weekend!
    Patrick Hung
