Kenik,
Even though I probably won't own a Solex carb 911,I find threads on these 'dry sump' carbs fascinating because the whole fuel/carb system in an early 911 is an elegant engineering sub-system in its own right !
Similar to the front hydro struts introduced in 1969 MY,the Solex carbs are another 911 feature that weren't quite tested and production ready at the release date of the 911 in 1964.Maybe Piech had the engineers hot on the trail of a future 917 instead !!
This is confirmed by the subsequent correction/s data from the factory mod and the emulsion tube data.
Other problem areas should be due mainly to wear and tear over the years eg shaft bushings and soggy floats.
The Solexes were designed specifically for the 911 and the Webers came from a Lancia V6 IIRC which explains the barrel spacing differences.
I stopped by to talk with Mark(?) at Laguna Seca last August and he seemed happy with the performance of his Solexes and the twin pump system !
Obviously an hour at the track is different to 40k street and highway miles but he is still using these carbs.
IMHO development of the Solex carbs should have continued until production ready(off the soap box now !).
Maybe David - LKG 6D - might want to join in here.
Keep up the good work and MORE Solex porn pls !!
Cheers,
Dennis.

Did someone mention my name
That part is 901.108.029.00 - Oil Outlet Tube. I need one of those if it's spare Kenik?
If you're using the mechanical pumps as I do, replace the fibre washer with one of these, the original always leaks. I have some spares if you need one, come to think of it I'm sure I owe John Cramer a pair?
I thought the Solex factory had a fire, and Porsche had to go to Webbers?
Mike
I'm not totally sure what this is - looks fuel related:

I see that others have already replied, but for further clarification...regarding the oil outlet tube. I did the same thing with my tub of 71E parts...held that in my hands and went WTF is that?

Kenik, PM me you're address and I'll send you two. Might be a little slow with the postage though as we don't have any inbound or outbound flight due to the volcano in Iceland
