Price check - elephant hide seats

I just came across a pair of seats from a 68 911 L with elephant hide seat inserts. One tear at seam, which is easy to repair, otherwise in very nice shape with near perfect chrome recliners. No headrest holes (Euro model?). I searched for a price reference but could not find one.

    Thanks

Sounds like you have a bit of a rare find , never seen Elephant Hide seats , as far as I know only the door panels and dash front were Elephant hide .
    Do have any pictures ?

I've seen a local 911L with the seats, door panels and dash face in elephant- definitely original.

Damned cool. Wish you could still get the elephant hide in the original pattern?

Great seats , my car 911L Euro spec originally came with Elephant hide dash and doors but seats were vinyl with cord inserts (not so sweaty) I have retrimmed my original seats to leather with cord inserts , and stored these . now have a Scheel Driver bucket and a 68 recaro bucket with headrest as the passenger . really would like those seats you have though as my backups . Love that Elephant hide ... but no idea what they might be worth , a definite for a 68 car though , shame to see those seats go into anything else .

Correct Colour code (only for 911 and 912 A model): 772 (the elephant hide must have holes)

From "Colour code and material sample" manual.

Note: Elephant hide was usend ONLY in 911/912 A models.

Elephant hide was reserved for the '68 model year 911L only - rare material and long out of production. For the same model year, 'S' had basketweave (as per previous '67 MY) and 'N' had (afaik) basket weave dash but plain (as per pre-'67MY cars) seat vinyl.

ps: and if anyone knows of a pair of 'L' elephant hide seats in tan, I have cash waiting

    Sorry, Pmjt, but it's uncorrect.

Elephant Hide was mounted on ALL 1968 model (911/912)

Infact in "colour code and material sample" manual you find the Elephant hide material for the "911 and 912 A model", without any specification about the engine.

And, again, on both of mine 1968 S (both italians) i have Elephant hide interiors (unmolested cars)

The black color of this type of interior have the internal code 705 and the Part number 000.551.611.20

    BOOK SAID!
