    installing washer pump

i removed the washer bottle on my 1971 911s targa, disconected the wires and hoses from the pump and pried it off the bottle. now i cant get the new pump on the bottle. seems like you would have to push back from the inside as you push the pump on (which you of course cant). is there a trick or is it even possible to attach a new pump to an old bottle?

I grind a little off the corners of the mount to make it easier to twist onto the bottle, then I use a VW jack handle (it's a round bar with a 30 degree bend on one end) that I insert into the bottle hole and the 30 deg. end will push against the nub the pump snaps onto.
