    Seeking Sport Muffler Input

I am considering installing a sport muffler on my '73. I found this one on Pelican for $1175.

    http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...35%2D%37%33%29

Does anyone have any experience with this muffler? Is this price consistent with other sports mufflers? What other sports mufflers are recommended?

Thanks in advance for the education.

    Whew!!! $1,175.00!!!

I took my standard early 911 muffler to a local custom exhaust/muffler shop, who followed the directions as printed in a 1974 Panorama issue, and $100.00 later had the best sounding sport muffler ever.

PP has the Dansk sport muffler for $522 or a stock one for $422, so use that as a point of reference. You can also look at M&K from around $800 and up.

M&K will save about 12 pounds over the muffler you are considering.

    Dave,

As my very knowledgeable wrench pointed out on my '73 S, proper back pressure is key to either gaining, maintaining, or losing performance. He recommended the Dansk Sport because it has optimal back pressure and it turned out to be a great exhaust. Nice and throaty of wide open throttle, but relatively quiet (not obnoxious) at speed. Have had many positive comments about its sound.

Ed Mayo told me he has one that was done years ago (on his car) that still sounds sweet. I believe it's the "Up-Fixin' der Porsche" routine.

    Rally Muffler

Thanks again for the feedback. I heard back from M&K today. They want roughly $900 shipped for their custom rally muffler.

I like the look of 3 exhaust outlets.
