Thread: paint code help please

  1. #11
    thanks guys,I have spoken with herman maire but he didn't have the formula or #s anymore and worse although he says he loves the colour he wasn't exactly sure if it was gemini blue.
    the website shown I had found yesterday and forwarded that code to my painter so hopefully he can get somewhere with that.the problem now is when I finally do get a colour match how do I know it's true?

    Any chance you can use the Glasurit paint? I'm not a paint expert but that would be the option I might consider. Other comments?

    I guess they are set up to deal with PPG however if I could get the formula from glasurit I think they could mix it.I just want to be sure it's the correct shade

    They should be able to spray Glasurit paint also. The shop I deal with does both. I'd prefer to know that I had Glasurit on my car if your going for originality. I used PPG (great paint) on my RSR recreation but on my 72S it will be Glasurit. Some shops don't like to use the Glasurit clear coat because it's very hard and takes more sanding but it looks the best when it's done.

    This is the formula from the Glasurit site:

    This is helpful, too:

    Seems to be a logical mixture to attain a blue metallic color:

    M4 = Waterborne Mixing Base
    M99/02 = Fine Aluminum
    A531 = Indo Blue
    A563 = Green Shade Blue
    A926 = Black
    A427 = Violet
    A032 = White
    A136 = Golden Ochre

    I have a swatch book of all 72/73 paint colors if that's easier to work with. Let me know.

    It might be a customer service issue at the paint store - Yesterday I walked into a local PPG store and asked for signal orange - The guy at the counter looked the color up and asked what paint i wanted and how much ( I got a pint to test) they went to make it up and came back out and said there might be a delay because on of the tint bases asked for in the formula was no longer available - Guy at the counter got on the phone and got the formula for Signal orange with the new tint - I walked out with the can below 10mins later -

    PS - my store say's they found the color in the Nexa database , and also found a lacquer formulation -

    Hi guys,does it make sense that gemini blue has been outlawed in north america due to a high VOC count?so my painter says although he deals with a guy that still may have some of the old formula I don't knopw who to believe anymore but am having a real tough time finding this colour.
    thoughts please
