I've yet to experience my A, F, M, S, Za but I'll let you all know when I do.
Idea is to have a decent final gear that will hit the highway but not take the motor too far off the cams in case of one of our steep UT grades pops in front of me.
The Za ia a 914-6 final and the motor is a sand cast 2.5

If you don;t want to spend money acquiring and building a new gear set right now, the stock gears you have of AFMSX is pretty good for a 2.2S. I ran my 2.2S in my 911 for years with the stock '69 tranny gears of AFMSZ. These gears work very well for a 2.2S (on group drives many people were surprised on how fast that set up was). Yours is even better with the X 5th. I'd say use the gears you have right now and see what you think.
Of course if you don't mind spending a bit more money and want a REALLY fun box for that motor, go with the AFKQX. My 2.2S is now in my 914-6 with an AFKQX box wityh LSD and it is a LOT of run.

I like AMFSX on twisty canyon roads with my 2.7RS spec engine in my 911S. For a 2.2S, I think something a little shorter would be good to let the motor rev and power around the tight curves.

I've been running A F J O S for a few years in my 2.0L S. I love it except I've been planning to install an X fifth. You could come over and test it out, but I have the stock box in right now.
I'd put what you have in the car (doesn't take long) and see if you like it. I suspect you will. The gears will be great for the twisties and street driving, but probably a little short for PIR.

I like the look of a V fifth with A F J O or A F J Q
