Door Panels - ST/R/RS/RSR/TR/ETC.

I'm curious about what types of door panels were put on the racing specials throughout the years?

We're all familiar with the leather straps and plastic handles, but I'm looking for the alternatives. What kind of "out of the box" thinking did some people use when prepping the cars?

In the "Ultimate ST" thread there's a photo of a door panel with a VW-style lock/release ... very cool but a very strange addition.

At some point I believe I saw a leather pull strap/door release combination ... that would be pretty cool.

Also, what about door/map pockets?

There're 1000 ways to skin a cat ... I'd like to try and document them here.

That VW door handle was on the car prior to the resto on my car 0001,it was original to the car as far as we can tell i questioned it.There is also the 914 window winders in the homologated 911S factory light weight car.And a very early 911 S(67) prepped by the factory with factory plates and VW wolfsburg horn button.Will try to get photos if you like.

Marco,the VW bus,914/6 has some really light weight parts-i.e plastic that one can use in the spirit of the ST.
