Open call to the Porsche Community

All we hear these days is how EVILBAY has killed the deals on parts, or how internet sellers are dis-honest and no fun to deal with. Everyone reaches back to hallowed antiquity, i.e. the great swap meet, to show the way it should be. Well, it can be again.
The Ski Roundtop Swap Meet is about a month away, on Saturday September 18th.

Last year was a little down, but we still have time to make this year great. Here is my call, it is two-fold:
    1. To the Porsche Community, come out and support, bring your cars, bring those few boxes of parts that are sitting in the corner of the garage. Just come out and hang out. We all do it at Hershey, why can't we do it at Roundtop, the weather is nice, and you are in great surroundings. Remember, WE ARE THE PORSCHE COMMUNITY, so we can make these events great. Unlike a lot of things in life that we can't control like multi-national banks, social security, or oil in the gulf, Porsche events, we can make what we want. If anything you can come and get a FREE gift bag from Big John in the Unobtanium booth.
    2. To the Porsche parts vendors, cut prices and bring those hard to ship items at good prices. Clean out the deadwood of parts. This is what we do, bring that big bulky stuff and put good prices on it, you will move the parts, I promise. The people who come out need to see that there are still deals to be had.

All in all, we can make events like Roundtop great. This is one of the last time we here in the Northeast get to get out and drive our cars before big bad winter comes in and shuts us down until Spring. I hope to see everyone there. Remember if we don't support events like this they might go away, than things will only get worse.

We only have two weeks left until the swap.

For real, if you can make it you should. Dump those un-wanted parts, or search for the stuff you need. We are giving away FREE Porsches at the Unobtanium booth, stop by and get one while they last.

Current weather prediction for Saturday is 79 and sunny, it will be like we are in Cali in September!

Also, a new addition to the gift bags, our friends at Stoddard have provided us with Factory Shop Towels and Porsche stickers to go in the bags. Thanks again to them for their support!

Hope to see everyone there on Saturday.

Arrived at the hotel tonight, we brought the Poopster for people to oggle at.

There is still time for people to make it out.

This was by far THE BEST roundtop yet. Plenty of people, a mountain of great parts, cool cars, and perfect weather. We arrived early and the fun started at 6AM. From there it was the usual mad dash of buying parts right out of the backs of people’s trucks, there is nothing quite like that kind of excitement. Once that died down we all got to catch our breath and catch up with old friends, and make new ones. Today was a swap meet in its finest form, good friends, great deals, bad-ass cars, and perfect sunshine!
