Thread: switched from Hagerty to Chubb

    switched from Hagerty to Chubb

Due to the generousity of a member here, I was able to go to the PB Concours. While there, I was able to meet some representatives from Chubb Insurance. We were talking and I mentioned that I have Hagerty.
While talking, I learned alot about both companies. They were not there to pitch me, just give answers to the questions I had. I brought up my impression of them was that they were expensive, and only meant for the serious collector with multiple cars, worth millions. Not for a guy like me, just 2 Early 911's, working stiff.

I was wrong. They are for everyone.

Once home, I did a search here and on Pelican about insurance choices, I learned some more.

I went on line and compared my coverage with Hagerty and Chubb.

Effective September 1, I will now have more coverage, more limits and both Early 911's with Chubb, for a SUBSTANTAILLY less premium. (I mean like a savings of over $800.00 )

Try it yourself, go to both websites. I am curious to see if others here get the same results?

If you want to speak with a rep., I can give you the name of the person who did my policy. PM for the info

After watching that 1970 911 S go for over 100K at the Gooding Auction that Sunday night, that's what started me thinking all about my coverage, and doing something about it.

Disclaimer: I do not have any affiliation with Chubb.

This is good timing because lately I've been thinking about shopping around for a better coverage for my 911 and was gonna get a quote from Hagerty online. But since you had a good experience with Chubb I'll try them also.

    I'll keep you posted

I believe Chubb is also/was the carrier for Grundy CC insurance.

Good timing for me as well. Just put my request for quote in and we will see what happens. By the way NC is one of the states you have to provide detailed information (see below):

Sherwood, in the past my Grundy policy was underwritten by Chubb. When I added a car a few months ago, the carrier was a small Philadelphia company. I'm not sure if Chubb is out of Grundy policies altogether or whether Grundy just uses multiple carriers. I sort of scratched my head at the time, but it made more sense when I saw that Chubb is now writing their own policies.

I always liked that my Grundy policy was underwritten by Chubb. I might give Chubb a try when policy renewal time comes around.

Pay roughly $675/yr to State Farm and when my '70 was totalled they gave me PCA estimated value for it with no arguments.

I went to their site and compared the quote with my current Grundy premium and it was $300 more than I am paying now on my Ultima, Ray. Maybe Porsches get a better break?

I was pretty astounded by the quote I got here from Barrett Jackson. Anyone use their service? It was approx. 1/3 of the cost for Grundy for nearly the same coverage. There is precious little info on their site concerning conditions of use or underwriter, etc. I guess they will be contacting me after getting the quote and I can get more info then.

    Tom,
I wouldn't be surprised that there's some sort of tie-in with Hagerty Ins. since they're a major sponsor of their BJ Auctions, at least the televised ones (is there anything but?).
