So, did Porsche fix the dash from being short at the vents as it was for many many years? Changing the speaker grill with an original one wouldn't be a problem. I need to order a dash for an ST build. -Scott

Haven’t fitted it yet Scott but visually I would say yes and an
old speaker grille will stand out like dogs ba..s in my view

I have some really nice grilles but short at the vents I can't deal with again. Let me know how it fits. Thanks, -Scott

No change. Best bet if you need something now is probably to post a WTB ad and see if someone can help you with a previous generation Lakewell/Carpoint dash. Hoping to get an update on next gen dashes as the Lit Show.

ok, so I called Carpoint just now: They don't know of any issues with the dashboard; However, currently they don't have the correct vinyl structure, so they use the 993 vinyl type; There should be an update on this in the next 4 weeks. I was told Carpoint would have the correct vinyl grain dash at the coming Techno Classica in Essen.

Awesome. Yes, the current dash with the incorrect grain is awful. Looks like there may be hope on the horizon. Fingers crossed that they've solved the collapsing foam issue.

I've installed 2 of the new dash from Porsche. The fit is pretty good and not horribly short at the vents anymore. But, the damn speaker pattern is still wrong so you have to live with that or use an original speaker grill.

I ordered one as well and returned it. I agree that the fit is better but that grille is a deal-breaker and installing an original grille sticks out like a sore thumb. Can't believe they didn't use the original grille pattern.
