Certain conventional wisdom suggests that "Porsche" means Le Mans and endurance and that "Auto Union" means Grand Prix and Silver Arrows. Given Porsche's spotty history in grand Prix racing, I happen to subscribe to such wisdom. Although they did have a good run supplying McLaren with engines in the 80s. I think this is being considered again because of the proposed new 1.6l turbo engine specs for '13 and Porsches expertise with turbos. I imagine they would only be involved as an engine supplier.

Looks like VW Gruppe is going to have its hands full if all these rumors come true. The new Porsche CEO also talked about a VW-Penske-NASCAR team . And VW's WRC entry is almost certain with the Scirroco (it ran as a course opening car in Germany). All this, on top of their Skoda rally program in IRC (they are dominating that series) and Audi in endurance racing and DTM. It's 'all good' I suppose.
