    Electric window motors for 1972S

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase two rebuilt electric window motors for my 1972 911S coupe? They are different from the 1973 motors. A picture of the motors would be very helpful so I can be certain I am purchasing the correct motors (they look like an aluminum pocket whiskey flask without a separate external gear housing). They may have been made only for 1972.

Appreciate any help you can give me for my search.

    Guy

I have a spare for my 70S here somewhere. If I can find it I will shoot a picture and post it here for you. As I recall, it is similar/identical to a early sunroof motor, if that helps you at all.

    Electric Window Motor

    Hi Bill,

Thanks very much for your replies and photos of the 70S motor and 69 parts page. The motor looks like mine, as I remember it from several years ago. Could you please hold onto your motor until I get a chance to open my door and compare your pictures with my motor. I will have time do this on Friday (10/15), and will get right back to you.

    Again, thanks.

    Guy.

    Guy, et al;
I apologize if there has been a misunderstanding here. The original request was for photos of the proper motor. I provided that to assist Guy. My spare motor is not for sale at this time, as I have a 40 yr old car with two of these myself...

    Carry on...

I am not certain if that is from a 1973 or possibly later car. I don't know when the change was made.

Note: That one would probably work on an earlier car, but would not be the correct part. The entire lift mechanism appears to have been revised, aside from the plastic? covered motor.

    Hi,

In case it helps, they changed some when in the 72 production year. The earlier type is the same as used for the sun roof motor. The later type as in the pics silverc4s are available new, but the earlier type are NLA.

They are also not interchangeable as the window mech is different per different types. The later motors are IMO better and thus unless required it may be easier just to change the whole unit and window mech.

For example we have just done this for the sun roof mech, the old unit out and the later style new unit in.

Alan - I am confused. The motor that I show is for a 1970, and the one Cliff showed is from a 1973. His (the black motor) is the newer version that is still available? I don't understand how mine can be the newer version.
    Thanks..
