Going crazy. Need pic of back of oil temp/pressure gauge for '68

Trying to finish install of combo oil pressure/temp instrument to replace original idiot light equipped one. Have changed sender to correct (I was told) unit at engine and connected same wire to it as was on other sender. Have replaced gauge in dash and made all connections to handbrake, alt light, and oil temp, everything is fine there.

Can't figure out wires to oil pressure. Can someone please post a picture of the back of one of these gauges so I can match the wires up? It just pegs to the top when power is applied, so something is amiss. I need to make sure I have unsheathed the correct "3rd wire" from the factory harness to connect to it, too.

    Thanks!

I've got the same thing happening on my project. My before picture of the gauge is blurry. I've got the hand drawn back-up somewhere. I think the wiring diagram can be used also. I've ran into other issues so this was not overly important. Looking forward to seeing someones pictures for reference though.

Hope this helps. This is from my stock 912 idiot light pressure gauge to a 911 temp pressure gauge using the stock wires.

68911+1, that might be the most helpful thing I have ever seen! I cant wait to report back on this, thank you very much for the clear photos. Even with my color blindness, I should be able to figure this out!

I'm also noticing that on the back of the pressure side of the gauge in your picture, there is no "3rd connection" to it, other than the connectors that came off the idiot light. I think that's what has been hosing me up. I might be grounding the gauge out by adding that 3rd mystery wire that was sealed off from the factory in the harness. Wish I could tell you what color the wire is that I tried to add there...

That mystery wire you refer to was probably the sportomatic overheat warning light wire.

The original idiot light connects to the idiot light on the new gauge, the same as before. You only use the "new" wire from the wiring loom/harness to the pressure gauge. You do have a new double pole sender that is needed for both the gauge and idiot light, right?

Do I need to re-post the photos?

There is no oil idiot light on the combo gauge, the light at the top is for the handbrake warning light. On the back of the picture of the sporto gauge notice the brown /yellow wire going to bulb at the top, that goes to the handbrake switch.

    Your correct.

My apologies, I forgot that I had rewired the hand brake indicator to be an oil pressure idiot light and substituted in a green light lens when I changed out the gauge.
