Gearbox serial number worn off-any other external location? (73T)

My 73T coupe spent 20 years as a PCA stock class race car and as you folks might have guessed, spent a big part of its life being jacked up, propped onto jack stands, and undoubtedly occasionally driving through the run off areas. Consequently the serial number on the bottom of the case is not readable. Is there any other location for it on the case? Nothing that I noticed turned up on a search of older posts.

I believe the motor is original based on case type and serial number being contemporaneous for the car model, and I believe the transmission is too.

Thanks in advance for any answers for this my first post on this amazing forum.

No, just the one vulnerable location. No longer able to get COA listing the trans# without providing the correct #. No Kardex for the 1970's. It is a very poor situation to be in. About the only way I can think of is a forensic examination to see if the compressed metal beneath the digits can be read by experts. This may be possible but expensive.

There will be dates on a few of the gearbox housing and side cover pieces (convex in the casting) that will at least tell you if it's ballpark correct.

Chis and Dave, thanks for the quick answers. I may be back soon with those numbers after I stick my nose up there.
