    Bonsoir,

Any interior pics of the race/transam interior please? Special focus on the rollcage and harness.

    Cheers

And another missing one (w/ a /30 engine). Has it's original matching engine!

This car has been rescued and is now at my hangar. This has turned out to be a great find. It was built with Rally equipment, Sport kit, big tank, 840 watt alternator, front skid plate, heated rear window and rear wiper. There are front tow tabs, a hand held spot light socket on the dash and rolled rear quarter. It also has a set of four unpolished raw Fuchs wheels from the rally department. It is mostly complete and does still have the original engine. It has been sitting for a very loooong time. As much as I would love to add it to my small collection with four restorations of my own going I will sell it. There are a few images at http://www.Porsport.com Please contact me directly.

After buying this last Rally car I have some renewed interest in the topic and I thought I would write something not based on club or world politics ie what we are really here for. In rereading this thread there are some things I have learned since we first started talking about these neat old cars. 68S Rally cars do exist after all however all I have seen were built in 67. The T rally or T/R was the group 3 replacement for the 1968 season. If someone has a 1968 build S Rally that would be cool to see.

Another observation in on US cars the Kardex is written Rally Kit, on Euro cars it is Rally equipment. Is there more to the Euro option? If not why would it be listed differently?

Great find Don.......and yes refreshing to read about CARS again!

I was about to suggest that the different terminology might be that on the Euro cars it could be fitted at build whilst US cars perhaps could not be imported like that so the parts had to come as a 'kit', however, I then checked and totally destroyed my own argument because the T/R I had was a factory collection by a British guy (ordered by the Porsche East African agent Gordon Crow) and on the Kardex in this case it was also called 'Rallye-Kit' !

I do believe we have to be careful in viewing these period documents and (perhaps) reading too much into the terminology, I love all this research but have found myself guilty in the past of assuming too much based on documentation, for example as I had the T/R restored we found a number of changes that the Kardex never captured. It is also worth remembering that the 'Rally-Kit' could also be the 'Sport-Kit I' and/or 'Sport-Kit II' etc.....
